DAY 52: WEDNESDAY

Protect Without Controlling

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:”
1 John 4:18 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

Protection is good. Control is different.

If someone is in danger, get help.

If a younger child needs guidance, help.

But being worried does not give you the right to boss everyone, check everything, threaten, intimidate, or make choices for people who are responsible for themselves.

Young men especially need to understand this early: strength is safest when it is under Christ's authority.

Young women need to know that someone calling control protection does not automatically make it loving.

In every friendship and family relationship, love tells the truth and respects appropriate boundaries.

TAKE A MOMENT

Have you ever tried to control someone because you were worried? Has someone tried to control you and called it caring?

BUILD IT THIS WEEK

Practice this sentence: I care about you, but I cannot make your choice for you.

If safety is involved, bring in a trusted adult.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

thank You for teaching me how to build my life on Jesus.

Help me grow in protection.

Show me what belongs to me, help me tell the truth, and teach me to respond with wisdom instead of reacting from fear or anger.

Help me notice the growth happening in my family without trying to control it.

Make me someone who brings truth, courage, responsibility, kindness, and peace into the places You have put me.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
