The Bridge of Surrender
“Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”Luke 22:42 (KJV)
Trust becomes surrender when we place our weight on it. In Gethsemane, Jesus honestly expressed His desire and still surrendered it to the Father. Surrender does not pretend fear, grief, or questions do not exist. It brings all of them to God and says, ‘Nevertheless.’
Sometimes surrender is daily or hourly. Releasing something again does not mean the first surrender was false. The road behind us becomes part of the faith we carry forward.
Reflection
What am I holding tightly or repeatedly taking back? What past faithfulness gives me reason to trust God now?
