Walking with God · Part 4 of 19
When We Think We’ve Heard God Clearly
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
Balaam kept striking the donkey that refused to move until God opened his eyes to the angel in his path. What he interpreted as stubbornness was protection. Sometimes a closed door, delay, or trusted warning may be part of God’s direction.
Abiding keeps us teachable while we walk. Our confidence is not in interpreting God perfectly, but in His ability to lead us faithfully. We may need the donkey to start talking before we finally ask, ‘Lord, what am I not seeing?’
Reflection
Am I more committed to what I believe God told me than to continuing to listen? If I am Balaam here, will I let God open my eyes?
