“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.” 2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)
Formation is not completed when you finish this book.
In many ways, it is only beginning.
God forms us over a lifetime through His Word, His Spirit, His people, and the circumstances He faithfully uses to shape our hearts.
This appendix is designed to help you continue walking intentionally with Christ.
It is not another checklist to earn God's approval.
It is a set of practical tools to help you remain surrendered to Him.
Begin each day by asking yourself:
Have I spent time with God today?
Am I pursuing Him because I love Him, or because I want something from Him?
Am I remaining in Christ?
“Abide in me, and I in you.” John 15:4 (KJV)
What emotions am I carrying today?
Have I surrendered them to Christ?
Is fear leading me, or is faith?
What have I been dwelling on?
Are my thoughts producing peace or anxiety?
Do they align with Philippians 4:8?
Have I loved well today?
Have I spoken with kindness?
Do I owe anyone an apology?
Have I forgiven those who have hurt me?
Have I been faithful with what God has entrusted to me today?
Am I managing my time wisely?
Am I serving others well?
Once each week, spend time honestly answering these questions before the Lord.
Where am I finding my worth right now?
Christ
Success
Relationships
Ministry
Appearance
Approval
Performance
If the answer is anything other than Christ, invite Him to realign your heart.
Am I walking in God's peace?
Or am I living with:
constant anxiety
hurry
striving
comparison
fear
Peace doesn't always mean life is easy.
It often means your heart is aligned.
Have I remained teachable?
Did I receive correction?
Did I defend myself unnecessarily?
Did I blame others?
What has the Holy Spirit been gently pointing out this week?
Have I responded?
Or have I ignored Him
Before entering, or continuing a relationship, prayerfully consider:
becoming more like Christ?
emotionally healthy?
spiritually growing?
healing instead of hiding?
building capacity?
seeking covenant instead of comfort?
pursuing Christ together?
growing spiritually?
emotionally safe?
able to resolve conflict?
serving one another?
building something bigger than ourselves?
As God forms you, you may notice:
Less urgency.
More peace.
Less fear.
More wisdom.
Less striving.
More trust.
Less comparison.
More gratitude.
Less control.
More surrender.
Formation often feels quiet.
Growth is not always dramatic.
Sometimes maturity simply looks like responding differently than you once would have.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me enough to continue shaping me.
Help me to desire You more than outcomes.
Teach me to trust Your timing more than my own plans.
Reveal areas of my heart that still need healing, repentance, and surrender.
Increase my capacity to love as Christ loves.
Strengthen my discernment.
Guard my heart from fear, pride, bitterness, and impatience.
Teach me to steward every season faithfully.
Whether I am waiting, rebuilding, leading, parenting, serving, or simply walking quietly with You, help me remain faithful.
May my life reflect Your character.
May my relationships reflect Your love.
May my home reflect Your peace.
And may my legacy point others to Jesus.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You do not become mature by finishing this book.
You become mature by continually surrendering your life to Christ.
Formation is not an event.
It is a lifelong invitation.
So keep walking.
Keep trusting.
Keep obeying.
Keep growing.
Because God is still writing your story.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
