The heart of the ministry

Discipleship for real life

Following Christ is more than a moment of belief. It is a daily walk of becoming.

Our mission

Purpose-Led Discipleship is being built as a place for biblical teaching, honest growth, healing, and practical encouragement. It is for people who want their faith to reach beyond Sunday and shape the way they live, love, lead, parent, serve, and begin again.

What we believe

We believe lasting transformation comes through relationship with Christ, the truth of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and faithful community.

Kristal Walden, founder of Purpose-Led Discipleship

About me

I’m Kristal Walden.

I’m a mother of five living with my family in mid Nebraska. I was born in Texas and moved to Nebraska when I was nineteen. Today, I’m raising three teenage daughters and two elementary aged sons.

I was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ when I was five years old. My walk with God has not been perfect, but my faith in Him has remained a constant throughout my life. When I look back, I can see many places where God was present and working, even when I did not fully understand what He was doing at the time.

I have never really thought of myself as an author. I simply began writing about what God was teaching me through Scripture and through the experiences of everyday life. Over time, those writings grew into Peace Before Promise, Abide, Restored, Becoming, Purpose Led, Walking Together, Bearing Fruit, Legacy, and devotional studies for men, women, young adults, and families.

Read more about my heart for discipleship

Much of what I share comes from lessons I’m still learning in my own walk with God. My hope is that these stories, biblical reflections, and practical teachings may help someone else slow down, turn toward Him, and recognize how He may already be working in their life.

One subject especially close to my heart is learning to listen to God. Prayer is not only talking to Him. It also involves becoming still, asking questions, spending time in Scripture, and learning to recognize His leading.

I do not believe there is a simple formula for hearing God. Discernment develops over time as we grow closer to Christ, become familiar with His character through Scripture, remain attentive to the Holy Spirit, and learn to respond to what He shows us.

My desire through Purpose-Led Discipleship is not to tell anyone exactly what their walk with God should look like. I simply want to point people toward Christ and share what I have learned in a way that makes discipleship understandable and practical in everyday life. My hope is that others will encounter God personally, recognize His faithfulness, and grow in their own relationship with Him.

I enjoy serving in my church in a few different areas. I also believe ministry often happens in ordinary places. Serving can take many forms. It can look like raising children, helping at church, sharing a meal, listening to someone’s story, or learning to respond differently in a difficult moment. We have opportunities to encourage others wherever we are. When we remain open to the Holy Spirit, we also have opportunities to receive what God may want to teach us through the people around us.

I do not share because I have everything figured out. I share as someone who is still learning, still growing, and still discovering what it means to walk with God one day at a time.

“We love him, because he first loved us.”1 John 4:19 KJV
