DAY 21: SUNDAY

COME AND RECEIVE

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing this man through another week.

You have been teaching him how to remain anchored when the water is troubled, how to receive peace when peace feels unfamiliar, how to separate his worth from being needed, how to count the cost before carrying responsibility, and how to let You see the places he once learned to cover.

Today, I pray that he simply comes to You.

As he gathers with the church, quiet the pressure to perform spiritually. Let him worship without wondering whether he is doing enough. Let him listen to Your Word without immediately turning everything he hears into another responsibility to lead better.

Give him what he needs today.

Encouragement.

Correction.

Conviction.

Comfort.

Rest.

Community.

Truth.

Whatever You know he needs.

If he leads a family, remind him that part of spiritual leadership is bringing them toward places where You can meet them without believing he has to manufacture the encounter himself.

Let him receive from You so that what he eventually pours into others actually comes from something You first poured into him.

“We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 (KJV).

Teach him to live from that order.

Received first.

Then given.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

DEVOTIONAL

“Come unto me.”

That is Jesus' invitation.

Not:

Fix yourself and come.

Understand everything and come.

Become a better leader and come.

Get your emotions under control and come.

Prove your discipline and come.

Come.

A man can become so focused on spiritual leadership that even his relationship with God becomes something he performs for other people.

He reads so he can teach.

Studies so he can answer.

Prays because the family needs prayer.

Goes to church because he believes a good father should take his children.

All of those things can be good.

But do you still know how to come to God because you need Him?

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (KJV)

You qualify by being heavy laden.

You do not have to impress Jesus with how little help you need.

You receive.

That word matters.

First John 4:19 says, “We love him, because he first loved us.”

Love begins with reception.

God loved first.

Then we love.

That principle reaches into everything we have been talking about.

You become a safe place because you are learning security in Christ.

You forgive because you have been forgiven.

You extend grace because you have received grace.

You love because you were loved first.

You do not have to manufacture the source.

Abide near it.

John 15:5 says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches...” (KJV)

A branch does not produce fruit by working itself into exhaustion.

It remains connected.

That is worth remembering as a man who wants to lead.

Spiritual leadership is not becoming everyone's source.

You point them toward the Source.

And you keep going there yourself.

TAKE A MOMENT

Carry one question with you today:

What does God want me to receive from Him today?

Do not answer it too quickly.

Let Him surprise you.

JOURNAL WITH GOD

There is no full journal assignment today.

If something from worship, Scripture, prayer, church, or your time with God speaks deeply to you, write only what you want to carry forward.

What do I want to remember from today?

YOUR TIME WITH GOD

Let church be part of your time with God today.

Worship.

Listen.

Receive.

Read Matthew 11:28–30, 1 John 4:18–19, and John 15:4–5 if you want something to carry into the day.

If conviction comes, receive it.

If encouragement comes, receive that too.

If your family is with you, let them receive as well.

Do not turn the ride home into an examination.

You can ask, “Was there anything that stood out to you?”

Then listen.

Let God build His own relationship with the people you love.

You are called to lead them toward Him.

You are not called to replace Him.

Then let the rest of Sunday breathe.

Eat.

Rest.

Laugh.

Be present.

Tomorrow, we return to deeper formation.

Today, come.

And receive.
