Day 10 of 14 · Companion to Purpose Led
When God Says Wait
Reads as a complete devotion on its own

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.”
Psalm 37:7 · KJV
Moving takes faith. Sometimes waiting takes more. When we can picture the thing we want, waiting can feel like doing nothing. Yet not yet is still direction.
Waiting is not always passivity. A farmer waits for fruit while tending what can be tended. Your waiting season may include learning, saving, healing, serving, practicing, researching, building healthy relationships, or caring for responsibilities already in your hands.
The danger is manufacturing movement because waiting feels unproductive. Motion can soothe anxiety without becoming obedience. A forced door may give us activity while moving us farther from peace.
Waiting on God is also different from waiting for an outcome. Waiting for the thing says, I will be all right when this finally happens. Waiting on God says, I can be with You here too. The desire may remain, but it no longer has to replace His presence.
Silence does not always mean abandonment. Sometimes there is no new instruction because the last one still stands. Stay. Prepare. Rest. Keep your word. Continue the work already given. Do not manufacture a new command because the old one became ordinary.
Today is not the hallway between meaningful rooms. It is part of your life with God. Notice the provision, people, lessons, laughter, work, and grace present here. Waiting is not wasted when it teaches us to receive God before the answer arrives.
Reflect
Sit with the question
Have you been waiting on God, or have you been waiting for one outcome to give you permission to have peace? What was the last thing God made clear?
Respond
Take one faithful step
Do the last clear thing faithfully. Then choose one way to be present in today's life rather than mentally living only in the hoped for future. Receive something God has already provided here.
Pray
Bring it before God
God, teach me to wait with You. Keep me from forcing movement to quiet my anxiety. Show me what can be prepared and what must be left in Your hands. Let desire remain surrendered, and help me receive Your presence as enough for today. Amen.
Truth to carryNot yet is still direction, and God is still present here.
