Rooted and Fruitful

Day 11 of 14 · Companion to Bearing Fruit

Let the Fruit Point Beyond You

Reads as a complete devotion on its own

A woman offering fruit to a man with a cross lit in the distance.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16 · KJV

Fruit is evidence, not advertisement. People may notice patience, courage, peace, generosity, honesty, or change, but the purpose is not to make the branch impressive. The fruit points beyond us to the Father who gives life and the Christ who saves.

Our life does not need to be perfect before we speak about Jesus. It should, however, increasingly support what our words say. Humility lets us acknowledge failure, make repair, and testify without polishing ourselves into the hero of the story.

A testimony can be honest and unfinished. You can say, Christ met me here. He has brought me a long way, and I am still learning to follow Him. The power of a testimony is not that every struggle has ended. It is that the Savior has entered the real story.

Kindness alone cannot explain the Gospel. At some point witness needs words: all have sinned; Christ died for our sins and rose again; salvation is God's gift received through faith; Jesus is Lord. We share that truth because we received it, not because we created it or became better than the person listening.

We can speak with clarity and humility. Ask permission when appropriate. Listen to questions. Admit what you do not know. Respect free will. Winning an argument is not the same as loving a person, and another person's immediate response is not something we can force.

When someone notices the fruit, tell them where it comes from. When an opportunity opens, speak the name of Christ. Then release the seed. Someone else may water what you planted, and God may grow something you never live long enough to see.

Reflect

Sit with the question

Does the way you live increasingly support what you say about Christ? Where might God be opening a natural opportunity for an honest testimony or clear Gospel conversation?

Practice

Take one faithful step

Write your testimony in three brief parts: what was true, how Christ met you, and what He is forming now. Ask God for wisdom to share it naturally with one person when the door opens.

Pray

Bring it before God

Father, let the fruit of my life bring glory to You. Keep me from hiding Christ and from making myself the hero. Give me humility about my unfinished places, clarity about the Gospel, and love for the person in front of me. Help me speak when You open the door and trust You with the seed. Amen.

Truth to carryThe fruit is not meant to make the branch famous. It is meant to make the Vine visible.
