Day 3 of 10 · Companion to Legacy
Bring God Your Weakness
Reads as a complete devotion on its own

“And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.”
Exodus 4:10–12 · KJV
Moses answered God's call by naming what he believed made him inadequate. God did not pretend the concern was imaginary. He redirected Moses from the limitation to the One who would be present within it: I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
We can spend years arguing with what God already knows. We point to our personality, education, history, age, resources, family situation, mistakes, or fear as if God discovered those facts after He invited us to obey. Honest limitation is not unbelief, but limitation does not have to become the authority that decides everything.
Confidence in God is different from confidence in ourselves. Self confidence says, I can handle this. Faith says, God will be faithful as I obey, prepare, and receive help. We do not have to become enough for every possible demand. We need to remain close to the One who is sufficient.
Dependence does not excuse carelessness. Moses still had to go. We may need to study, practice, ask questions, receive correction, develop skill, or invite partnership. Trusting God does not make preparation unnecessary. It keeps preparation from becoming proof that we no longer need Him.
Sometimes God answers weakness through another person. Aaron's presence did not diminish Moses' calling. Wise partnership can strengthen an assignment, protect blind spots, and bring gifts we do not possess. Humility receives that help without handing away the responsibility God has actually given.
Bring God the real sentence you keep using against obedience: I am not experienced enough. I do not speak well. I have failed before. I am afraid. Then listen for the truth that follows. The call is not to deny weakness. It is to move with God present in it.
Reflect
Sit with the question
What limitation have you been treating as the final authority over your obedience? Is God asking you to prepare, seek partnership, or take a step while still feeling weak?
Practice
Take one faithful step
Write your most repeated statement of inadequacy. Beneath it, write, God already knows this, and He will show me what faithful preparation and obedience require. Complete one part of that preparation today.
Pray
Bring it before God
Lord, You know every limit I carry. Keep me from pretending weakness is not real and from using it to decide what You can do. Teach me, prepare me, and bring the right help where it is needed. Let my confidence rest in Your presence rather than my performance. Amen.
Truth to carryMy weakness is not greater than God's presence within my obedience.
