CHAPTER 19

Keep Following

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John 10:27 (KJV)

You have reached the end of this book.

You have not reached the end of your purpose.

The point was never to figure out the one perfect thing God created you to accomplish.

The point was learning to follow.

You Do Not Need the Whole Map

Maybe you know what God is asking next. Do it faithfully. Maybe you are still discerning. Keep listening. Maybe you are waiting. Wait with Him. Maybe the assignment ended. Do not manufacture an answer.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 (KJV).

Enough light to walk.

Purpose Led Means Continually Led

You do not hear God once and spend the rest of your life implementing the plan without Him.

Keep walking with Him. Keep asking. Listening. Testing what you believe against Scripture. Learning His character. Allowing the Holy Spirit to correct you. Receiving wise counsel. Paying attention to fruit. Surrendering your own interpretation. Following.

The calling does not replace the relationship.

Knowing the Direction Does Not Mean You Stop Asking for Directions

A general calling does not make every specific opportunity an assignment.

Stay close.

You Will Still Get Things Wrong

You may run ahead, misinterpret, say yes too quickly, wait when you should move, move when you should wait, carry something that was not yours, hold too long, or release too quickly.

Purpose led does not mean perfectly led because we became perfect listeners.

When you recognize you got something wrong, come back. Repent where needed. Repair what can be repaired. Learn. Listen again. Keep following.

Do Not Become Afraid of Making a Decision

Discernment should make us more attentive to God, not terrified of choosing anything. Sometimes faith looks like making the wisest decision available and trusting God enough to redirect you.

Keep Abiding

“Abide in me, and I in you...” John 15:4 (KJV).

Purpose without abiding becomes exhausting. Come back. Abide. Purpose was never supposed to pull you away from Him.

Keep Your Peace Before the Promise

There will still be deserts, waiting, questions, closed doors, and plans you cannot see clearly. You do not have to wait until the promise is in your hands to have peace. God walks through the desert too.

Keep Becoming

God will continue forming you while He leads you. Let Him expose pride, fear, control, unhealthy ambition, need for approval, need to be needed, poor boundaries, and avoidance. Let Him grow His fruit in you.

Purpose should not merely change what you accomplish. Walking with God should continue changing you.

Keep What Is Yours and Release What Is Not

There will always be needs, opportunities, and people who want something from you. Ask: God, what is mine?

Carry that faithfully. Let Him be God over everything else.

Let Other People Follow God Too

Teach, encourage, protect where responsibility requires, tell truth, set boundaries, share wisdom, then leave room for people to develop their own relationship with God.

The goal is not to make people good at following you. Help them learn to follow Him.

Do Not Be Afraid When the Assignment Changes

A season can end without becoming meaningless. Purpose remains larger than the assignment.

Do Not Miss the Ordinary

Purpose may look like making dinner, going to work, listening to your child, keeping your word, paying the bill, answering honestly, resting, helping one person, or doing something kind nobody sees.

When He Says Move, Move

After prayer, testing, surrender, and listening, there are moments when the next faithful step becomes clear.

Take it.

Not as a power trip. Not because nobody can question you. Not because the outcome is guaranteed.

Because obedience belongs to you.

There is joy in reaching the place where God says: Come this way.

And your heart answers: Yes.

Let the Outcome Belong to God

Maybe it succeeds visibly. Maybe it starts small. Maybe someone says no. Maybe someone says yes. Maybe you plant and someone else waters. Maybe you never understand everything God did with it.

Be faithful.

Leave the increase with Him.

You Are a Servant, Not the Savior

You do not have to save, fix, heal, convince, or carry everyone.

Jesus is Savior.

You are allowed to be human.

Keep Open Hands

What God places there, carry. What He asks you to protect, protect. What He asks you to give, give. What He asks you to release, release.

The calling is not God. The assignment is not God. The dream is not God. The outcome is not God.

God is God.

Just Be Faithful

Maybe someday you will look back and see connections you cannot see today.

I listened. I learned. I repented when I was wrong. I received when I needed to receive. I rested when He told me to rest. I moved when He told me to move. I carried what He placed in my hands. I released what He asked me to release. And I kept following.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant...” Matthew 25:21 (KJV).

Faithful.

Not perfect. Not impressive. Not the person who figured out every detail of God's plan.

Faithful.

Keep Following

When you close this book, you do not need to ask: Have I finally discovered my purpose?

Maybe ask: Am I walking with God today?

Am I listening? Am I surrendered? Am I faithful with what is in my hands? Am I willing to follow if He changes the direction?

If the answer is yes, then keep walking.

Trust Him.

Abide in Him.

Let Him continue healing what needs healing.

Keep becoming.

Listen when He leads.

Walk with the people He places beside you.

Bear the fruit He grows through you.

Pour your life out faithfully.

And when you cannot see the whole road, remember:

You do not need the whole map.

You know the One who is leading.

Keep following.
