DAY 34: SATURDAY
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SOLVE IT TODAY
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.” Mark 6:31 (KJV)
MY PRAYER FOR YOU
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for bringing this woman through another week.
You have been teaching her what belongs to her and what belongs to You. You have been showing her how to remain faithful when nothing seems to change, how to walk beside her children without trying to remove every difficulty, how to recognize when fear is disguising itself as wisdom, and how to release the need to make everyone understand.
Today, give her permission to stop processing for a little while.
If there is a decision she has been turning over repeatedly in her mind, remind her that she may not need to decide today. If there is a conversation she keeps replaying, help her put it down. If there is something unresolved, teach her that unresolved does not always mean urgent.
Give her a quiet heart.
Let her enjoy something without analyzing it.
Let her be present with her children without turning every moment into a lesson.
Let her notice the home she is creating in the middle of ordinary life.
And if something genuinely requires her attention today, give her wisdom for it.
But do not let anxiety manufacture urgency where
You have given her permission to wait.
Teach her that stillness is not neglect.
Sometimes stillness is trust.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
DEVOTIONAL
It is Saturday, and after another week of looking honestly at yourself, your parenting, your fears, your relationships, and your responses, today is intentionally lighter.
You do not have to solve everything today.
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.” Mark 6:31 (KJV)
Some things need action. Some things need conversation. Some things need boundaries, decisions, repentance, courage, or change. And some things need time.
Learning the difference is part of wisdom.
If you are accustomed to carrying responsibility, unresolved situations can feel especially uncomfortable. Your mind wants closure. You want to know what is going to happen. You want the conversation finished, the decision made, the relationship settled, the problem fixed, and the next step clear.
When none of that is available, you may keep working on the problem internally even when there is nothing you can actually do. You replay, predict, prepare, imagine conversations, search for another angle, and ask yourself the same question in ten different ways.
But thinking about something longer does not always produce greater wisdom. Sometimes it only produces exhaustion.
There are moments when the most faithful thing you can say is, “I do not know yet.”
I don’t know what God is doing here.
I don’t know how this relationship will turn out.
I don’t know what decision I will eventually make.
I don’t know how this problem will be resolved.
I don’t know what someone else will choose.
And I do not have to know today.
That is not avoidance when there is genuinely nothing you need to do right now. It is patience.
There is a reason we have made Saturdays lighter throughout this journey. We are not trying to turn growth into another exhausting performance. You need room for what you are learning to settle.
Think about physical strength.
Muscles aren’t strengthened only while they are working.
Recovery matters too.
The same is true in formation.
There are times to examine your patterns, confront difficult truths, practice new responses, and make changes.
But you also need ordinary life.
You need meals and laughter.
You need conversations that are not about healing.
You need moments with your children where nobody is being discipled through a problem.
You need music, fresh air, a quiet cup of coffee, a project you enjoy, a nap, a game, or whatever genuinely gives your mind room to breathe.
Ordinary life is not interrupting your growth. It’s part of it.
You are learning that peace can exist before everything is resolved.
Your children need to experience that in your home too.
They don’t need every Saturday packed with productivity.
They don’t need every conversation turned into instruction.
They don’t need to feel as though the family is constantly working on becoming better people.
Sometimes they need Mom to sit down.
Sometimes they need you to laugh at something ridiculous.
Sometimes they need pancakes later than usual, music playing while everyone cleans up, a board game, a walk, a movie, or an afternoon where nobody is rushing anywhere.
A home is not only built through discipline and responsibility.
It is also built through enjoyment.
Perhaps that is something some women need to relearn.
You can become so focused on creating the right home that you forget to enjoy the people living inside it.
The dishes matter.
The schedule matters.
The rules matter.
The spiritual formation of your children certainly matters.
But your children are not only going to remember what you taught them.
They will remember what it felt like to live with you.
Let there be room for joy, peace, and things that remain unfinished.
There will be another lesson.
There will be another Monday.
There will be another opportunity to address what needs addressing.
Today, practice living without demanding resolution from everything around you.
You don’t have to solve it today.
TAKE A MOMENT
Notice whether your mind is currently trying to solve something that cannot actually be resolved today.
If there is an action you genuinely need to take, write it down.
If there is not, give yourself permission to stop carrying the conversation in your head.
Then notice something good that is already happening around you.
Receive it before you move on.
JOURNAL WITH GOD
What unresolved situation have I been mentally carrying even though there is nothing I need to do about it today?
What would it look like to give myself permission not to know the answer yet?
What is something simple I can enjoy with my children, family, friends, or by myself today?
YOUR TIME WITH GOD
If something is weighing on you, tell God what it is.
Ask whether there is anything He is actually asking you to do today.
If there is, do it. If there is not, leave it with Him for the day.
You do not need to keep bringing it back into your mind every ten minutes to prove that you care.
Then go live your Saturday.
Notice your children.
Enjoy a conversation.
Let something make you laugh.
Eat something you like.
Go outside if the weather is beautiful.
Rest if you are tired.
Finish something if finishing it would genuinely bring peace, but do not search for work simply because stillness makes you uncomfortable.
And if the unresolved thing returns to your mind, remind yourself: I have not forgotten it. I have simply stopped carrying it for today.
There is a difference.
God does not need you to remain mentally exhausted in order for Him to keep working. Let something remain unfinished. Let something remain unanswered. Let something wait until Monday.
Today, practice peace before resolution.
