CHAPTER 10

Rise and Go

“Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:” Acts 26:19 (KJV)

In Today's Language

Paul is saying: “God showed me what He was calling me to do, and I obeyed.” He did not walk away, spend the rest of his life arguing about qualification, or require the whole future before beginning.

Maybe that is one of the greatest things any of us could eventually say.

We Began on the Ground

Christ met Paul and said, “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose...” Acts 26:16 (KJV). Rise does not mean become self-sufficient. It means stand in what Christ has done and know who you belong to.

You Do Not Have to Be Enough

You are not enough for everything life could ever require. We have limits, tired bodies, blind spots, fear, and need for people, correction, rest, grace, and Christ.

That is not bad news. It takes pressure off. You were never supposed to be the Vine.

Your Job Is Faithfulness

Paul planted. Apollos watered. God gave the increase. We can stop trying to do God's part.

Listen. Obey. Plant when He gives seed. Water when He gives opportunity. Speak when He asks. Wait when He asks. Rest when needed. Repent when wrong. Return when you wander. Keep abiding. God handles the increase.

You Do Not Have to Carry the Outcome

You can parent faithfully and still have a child with free will. Share the Gospel and hear no. Write and not know who reads. Build and watch it change. Disciple and watch someone serve elsewhere. Pray and wait.

Faithfulness means carrying what was ours, not controlling what belongs to God.

Listen, Discern, Then Obey

God may give conviction, wisdom, Scripture, burden, direction, or vision. Listen and test it under Scripture, God's character, wisdom, and teachability.

If preparation is needed, prepare. If healing is needed, heal. If repentance is needed, repent. If help is needed, receive it. If the next step is obedience, obey.

You Were Created for Purpose, With Purpose, by God

You do not need a platform, fame, title, ministry, or large audience for your life to have purpose. There are people to love, truth to carry, gifts to steward, people to encourage, work to do, patterns to stop, and people to disciple.

Maybe your assignment reaches thousands. Maybe one. One is not small when one is the person God placed in front of you.

Put Down the Weight

You do not prove strength by carrying everything you can survive. Put down anger, fear, control, shame, pride, resentment, and the need to prove yourself when Christ asks you to surrender them.

Your strength does not disappear when the weight leaves. It becomes available for something else. Freedom is for movement, obedience, love, service, healthy relationships, purpose, and discipleship.

Your Surrender Is More Powerful Than Your Performance

Our children do not need a flawless life. They need to know where to go when life is not flawless: “Take it to God. Tell Him the truth. He already knows. Ask for wisdom. Listen. Return.”

Sometimes the strongest thing we can say is, “I don't know. But God does. Let's take it to Him.”

Help Someone Else Stand

Teach. Encourage. Develop. Give responsibility. Call out what is good. Correct with dignity. Let people try. Bless them. Release them.

If they seek Christ without us, become better at something, go farther, serve elsewhere, or someone says, “I see Christ in them,” good. That was the point.

Less of Me. More of Him.

John 3:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Not remember me—see Him. Not carry my name—carry His truth. Not become like me—become like Christ.

Now We Are Ready for the Identity

Paul says, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ...” 2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV). An ambassador represents another kingdom, not themselves.

You represent Christ at home, work, church, online, in relationships, leadership, private life, repentance, love, courage, and gentleness.

Stand in Who You Are

Do not be ashamed of Christ. Do not apologize for Scripture. Do not shrink because culture disagrees. And do not become harsh to prove strength.

Carry truth with grace, conviction with compassion, strength with gentleness, authority with humility, and the Gospel without shame.

Your Strength Is Not the Point

Moses said he could not speak. God asked who made his mouth. Paul had weakness; Christ said, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV).

The answer was never “Become enough.” The answer was “Stay close to the One who is.”

Know the Difference

You are a branch, not the Vine. A steward, not the owner. A witness, not the Savior. An ambassador, not the King.

You do not have to save anybody, control the harvest, carry everybody, or preserve yourself through legacy. You point to Christ, plant and water, walk beside people, and decrease while He increases.

The Whole Journey Was Forming a Life

You learned to trust Him before the promise. To abide. To keep becoming. To stand on His truth. To let Him restore what was wounded. To discover purpose. To walk with others. To bear fruit. And now, to give that fruit away.

None of those lessons were separate. They were forming a life surrendered to Christ.

Everything Returns to Him

When you are afraid: Christ. Confused: Christ. Successful: Christ. When you fail: Christ. When called: Christ. When waiting: Christ. When leading: Christ. When releasing: Christ.

When you do not know what comes next: Christ.

Faithfulness Is Enough

You do not have to manufacture purpose, prove yourself worthy, know everything next, or produce the increase. Remain. Listen. Surrender. Be faithful.

When He says put something down, surrender it. When He says stand, stand. When He gives something to carry, carry it faithfully. When He places someone beside you, love them. When He gives truth, live it. When He opens the door, walk through it. When He gives seed, plant it. When someone else is ready, help them stand. When it is time to release, open your hands.

I Was Not Disobedient

Return to Acts 26:19: “I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision.” In today's language: God showed me what He was calling me to do, and I obeyed.

Not “I became famous.” Not “I accomplished everything I imagined.” Not “Everybody approved.” Not “I never failed.” But: “When Christ showed me what was mine to carry, I was faithful.”

That Is Legacy

Legacy is not how long people remember our name. It is what remains pointing toward Christ because we were faithful while we were here.

A child who knows how to pray. A family that learned another way. A person who knows Christ. A disciple who became a discipler. A leader who learned not to crush people. A burden that stopped traveling. A truth remembered. A seed we never saw grow. It belongs to God now. It always did.

The Final Commissioning

You were created for purpose, with purpose, by God. You belong to Christ. Your strength comes from Him. Your life is His. You are an ambassador for Christ.

You do not have to carry the pressure of becoming enough. He is enough. You do not have to guarantee the harvest. God gives the increase. You do not have to know how far your obedience will travel. You only have to be faithful.

Less of Me. More of Him. All for Christ.

Let your life become less about making your name known and more about making His known. Let your children see Christ. Let the people you disciple see Christ. Let the people you lead see Christ. Let the people who come after you see Christ.

If one day your name disappears from the story but Christ is still being carried forward, nothing important was lost. He increased. We decreased. The Gospel continued. Someone else stood. And we were faithful.

Rise and Go

So rise. Stand upon your feet. You know who you belong to. You know where your strength comes from. You know the Kingdom you represent.

There is nothing left to prove. There is something to carry.

Be faithful.

And go.
