Opening
Rise, and Stand Upon Thy Feet
Acts 26:12–19 (KJV)
Paul Was Going Somewhere
He had authority, a commission, a plan, and certainty. There was only one problem: he was moving in the wrong direction. Then Christ met him on the road.
Purpose does not begin with having everything figured out. Christ met Paul with a past and still said, “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose...” Acts 26:16 (KJV).
Rise From Where You Are
Your past may explain where you are standing. It does not automatically determine what Christ can do from here. You do not need to be finished before you stand, but growth and healing cannot become permanent excuses to remain on the ground.
Paul did not receive the whole future at once. Purpose unfolded while he walked. We do not need the entire download before obeying the first clear instruction.
Listen and Discern
The Holy Spirit can convict, bring Scripture to mind, give wisdom, burdens, direction, and, as Scripture records, visions. We might conversationally call that a spiritual download. But the Holy Spirit is not our imagination with God's name attached.
Test what you believe you are hearing. Does it agree with Scripture and God's character? Can wise believers speak into it? Can you remain teachable?
Spiritual Family Resemblance
When we belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells within us. “Spiritual DNA” is a metaphor, not biological DNA: we belong to God's family, and family resemblance should increasingly appear in love, truth, holiness, grace, courage, faithfulness, and fruit.
Legacy Is Not Fame
Legacy is not a building, platform, book, ministry name, or being remembered. It asks what continues because we were faithful: a child who knows how to pray, a changed family pattern, someone who knows Scripture, someone who heard the Gospel, someone who learned how to return after failure.
Faithfulness Travels
Edward Kimball could not see Billy Graham from a shoe-store stockroom. He could see Dwight Moody. Legacy often moves through people who plant, teach, mentor, invite, preach, encourage, and give opportunities. God gives the increase.
Beginning Is Not Enough
A strong beginning does not guarantee a faithful ending. Gift can open a door character is not ready to survive. Anointing does not remove accountability, boundaries, integrity, rest, humility, or correction.
Finishing well requires remaining connected to the Vine. Legacy begins before death—in today's private decisions, apologies, boundaries, Gospel witness, discipleship, temptation resisted, truth told, and people encouraged to stand.
