What Will Remain
“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
1 Timothy 6:7 KJV

Eventually every title, possession, role, program, and platform changes or ends. These things can be stewarded faithfully, but they are not the deepest measure of a life. People often carry what they learned by being near us long after they forget the exact words.
They learn whether prayer is where we go, mistakes can be repaired, truth can be spoken gently, strength can be humble, boundaries can coexist with love, and failure leads back to Christ. They may also learn fear, avoidance, control, secrecy, or shame. Legacy is not automatically good simply because it continues.
Christian legacy is not an attempt to make our name outlive us. It is participating in the Kingdom of Christ. The seed belongs to God. The field belongs to God. The people belong to God. We belong to Him too.
The question becomes less, “Will they remember me?” and more, “Will something remain that helps them remember Christ?” We can leave truth, love, prayer, repentance, wisdom, hospitality, Scripture, healthy patterns, people who know how to stand, and disciples who help others follow Him.

Private Reflection
What do people learn simply by being near me?
What do I hope becomes normal in my home, friendships, church, or work?
What needs to end, and what needs to be strengthened?
What would it look like for my life to make Christ more visible?
A present legacy letter
Begin: What I hope my life keeps pointing toward is... Include one truth, one pattern to continue, one burden to stop, one person or community to strengthen, and one next step.
Prayer
Jesus, let what remains from our lives point beyond us and toward You. Teach us to live truthfully, love faithfully, repair humbly, and give away what You have entrusted. Amen.
