The Next Faithful Step

Day 2 of 14 · Companion to Purpose Led

Made With Intention

Reads as a complete devotion on its own

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 · KJV

You are God's workmanship before you are anyone's worker. That order matters. There was a time when you had produced nothing, helped no one, earned no title, and completed no assignment. You still bore value because your life came from God.

Being made with intention does not mean every painful thing that happened to you was part of a hidden plan. People make harmful choices, bodies become ill, relationships break, and life in a fallen world leaves real wounds. God's ability to redeem something does not require us to call the wound good.

It does mean that pain, weakness, or an unexpected life does not get the final word. God sees the gifts you recognize and the ones that feel too ordinary to notice. He sees the limitations that need wisdom, the places that still need healing, and the experiences He may one day make useful.

Comparison makes purpose harder to see because it teaches us to measure our design against another person's assignment. The body of Christ does not need every member to have the same function. Listening, organizing, welcoming, teaching, repairing, creating, protecting, serving, leading, and following well can all matter in God's hands.

Your strengths also need surrender. Confidence can become courage or control. Sensitivity can become compassion or instability. Independence can become responsibility or isolation. A gift is not simply something to use. It is something to place under the character and direction of Christ.

You do not need someone else's design, and you do not need to despise your own. Bring the whole person to God. Let Him develop what is useful, heal what is wounded, correct what has become unhealthy, and direct what He placed within you.

Reflect

Sit with the question

What part of your design have you dismissed because it seems too ordinary, too different, or less impressive than someone else's?

Respond

Take one faithful step

Name one strength you can offer God and one limitation you need to acknowledge honestly. Ask Him how the strength can serve and what wisdom the limitation is giving you about pace, preparation, help, or boundaries.

Pray

Bring it before God

God, thank You that I am Your workmanship. Help me receive the person You created without comparison or pride. Redeem what can be redeemed, heal what still hurts, and teach me to surrender both my strengths and my limitations to You. Make all of me available for Your purposes. Amen.

Truth to carryI do not have to become someone else to become useful in God's hands.
