Stewardship Starts Within · Part 8 of 9
Stewarding Your Leadership and Influence Gifts
Leadership is not about position, control, or recognition. It is about responsibility.

“But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:”
Mark 10:43 (KJV)
“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”
Luke 12:48 (KJV)
Leadership is not about position, control, or recognition. It is about responsibility.
How you lead, influence, respond under pressure, and treat people when no one is watching all matter.
Not everyone leads from a platform, but everyone influences someone.
Godly leadership is rooted in humility, integrity, wisdom, and service, not ego.
Responsibility before recognition
Godly leadership is stewardship of people, direction, decisions, and influence. It is not permission to control; it is a call to accept responsibility. Jesus redefined greatness through service, showing that authority is safest in the hands of someone willing to humble themselves for the good of others.
Leadership is revealed under pressure. Integrity, steadiness, teachability, and the willingness to own an outcome matter more than a title. Wise leaders seek counsel, make decisions carefully, protect people rather than using them, and develop others instead of keeping all responsibility for themselves.
Everyone influences someone, whether or not they hold a formal position. We lead through our reactions, priorities, consistency, and example. Stewarding influence well means remembering that we will answer to God for how it was used and choosing to make His character—not ego—the pattern for our leadership.
Who is affected by my example and decisions?
How do I respond when leadership becomes costly or uncomfortable?
Where is God asking me to replace control with service, wisdom, or trust?
Lead with humility. Take responsibility seriously. Use your influence to honor God and serve others.
