Day 14 of 14 · Companion to Bearing Fruit
Fruit That Remains
Reads as a complete devotion on its own

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain.…”
John 15:16 · KJV
We end where fruitfulness begins. Christ is still the Vine. We are still the branches. Love, witness, service, discipleship, endurance, and release never replace abiding. The source does not change when our reach begins to grow.
Fruit remains in people more often than in platforms. A child remembers how repentance sounded. A friend carries a truth spoken gently. Someone learns to pray because we prayed beside them. A person offers grace because they once received it from us.
Do not despise what looks small. One broken family pattern, one honest apology, one person taught to open Scripture, one meal, one protected confidence, or one Gospel conversation can matter beyond what numbers are able to measure.
Fruit that remains is not the same as being remembered. People may forget our name and still carry something God did through our faithfulness. We do not have to place our name on the harvest. The field, seed, growth, and glory belong to Him.
There comes a time to release what has grown. People become ready to stand, lead, serve elsewhere, or carry what God has formed in them. Holding fruit with open hands means we can bless their next step without requiring them to remain small so we can remain important.
Remain in Christ. Let love take form. Let obedience move. Let stewardship serve. Let witness point beyond you. Let another person learn to abide. Then trust God with where the seed travels. We may see only one faithful moment. He sees every life it may one day touch.
Reflect
Sit with the question
Where has something God formed in you already become useful to someone else? What fruit are you being invited to give, and what are you being asked to release?
Practice
Take one faithful step
Name one piece of fruit you can pass forward through encouragement, service, testimony, teaching, generosity, or release. Give it freely, then thank Christ as the source.
Pray
Bring it before God
Jesus, keep me close to You as I carry what You have grown. Let my life nourish, serve, and point beyond me. Free me from the need for recognition or control. Teach me to give with open hands, release with trust, and remain faithful whether or not I see the harvest. May the fruit bring glory to the Father. Amen.
Truth to carryI can give the fruit away because Christ remains the source.
Closing
Keep Returning to the Vine
Fourteen days cannot produce mature fruit by themselves. Fruit grows through a life that keeps returning to Christ: in ordinary mornings, difficult conversations, hidden choices, costly obedience, faithful service, and seasons when nothing seems to be changing.
Keep returning when unhealthy fruit appears. Conviction is not an order to hide. Tell the truth, repent, repair what you can, strengthen what needs protection, receive wise help, and come back to the source of life.
Keep returning when good fruit appears. Gratitude protects fruitfulness from pride. The patience, courage, generosity, peace, or faithfulness another person experiences through you first came from Christ. The branch can be thankful without pretending to be the Vine.
Keep giving what God grows. Let love become something another person can feel. Let truth be spoken with humility. Let gifts serve. Let testimony point to Jesus. Help another person learn to abide, then hold their growth with open hands.
You may not see every harvest. Some seed will travel beyond your view, your name, and your lifetime. Faithfulness does not require control of what remains. It asks you to abide, bear the fruit given for this season, and trust God with where it goes next.
Jesus, You are the Vine and I am a branch. Keep me close to You. Let Your Spirit form love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self control in me. Make that fruit visible through obedience, stewardship, witness, and care for others. Sustain me in hard seasons, correct me when unhealthy fruit appears, and keep me humble when growth is visible. Teach me to give with open hands and trust You with what remains. May my life bring glory to the Father. Amen.
Remain in Christ. Bear the fruit. Give it away. Trust God with what remains.
