The Heart of Becoming · Part 5 of 5 · Conclusion
Living From Who We Already Are

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
As I have walked through these lessons, one truth keeps coming back to me. God is not asking me to become someone He could finally love. He is teaching me to live from the identity He has already given me.
So much of my life was spent asking, ‘Am I enough? Am I doing enough? What do I need to fix next?’ But those questions slowly began changing. Instead, I began asking, ‘What does God say is true about me?’
I am not loved because I perform well. I am loved because He chose me. I am not accepted because I never fail. I am accepted because Jesus already paid the price. I am not pursuing Christ to earn His approval. I am pursuing Him because I already have His love.
When I know I am secure in Him, I do not have to prove or compare myself or compete for significance. I am free to celebrate others, serve, forgive, admit when I am wrong, and keep growing without feeling defeated every time I stumble.
Becoming more like Christ is not about pretending I have arrived. It is about walking with Him every day. Sometimes I take confident steps. Sometimes I stumble. Sometimes I have questions. Sometimes I have incredible peace. But through every season, He is faithful.
The pressure is not on me to perfect myself. My responsibility is simply to keep saying yes to Him: to remain, trust, follow, and let Him continue the work only He can do.
When I look back, I do not only see hard seasons. I see God’s faithfulness, prayers I did not realize He was answering, places where He gently changed my heart, relationships He used to refine me, trials that drew me closer, and a Savior who never stopped walking beside me.
Maybe that is what becoming is. Not becoming more impressive, accomplished, or admired, but becoming more like Jesus one surrendered day, one step of faith, one act of obedience, and one reminder of His grace at a time.
The greatest testimony of our lives will not be how much we accomplished. It will be how faithfully we learned to walk with Him.
